Theresa Grayson - It's All About You (2010)

"My music is a reflection of my heart. The melodies I play are the steps of my own experiences. My desire is to touch a special place in the listener’s heart and create a warm feeling of peace and happiness. I want the listener to leave smiling knowing that this was more than a concert. It was a life experience.”

Theresa is a Texas original, born in Tyler and raised in Houston. She was exposed to music at the early age of four and learned to play all the woodwind instruments, the piano and guitar. At the age of eight, Theresa formed an unbreakable bond with the saxophone which led her receiving accolades for her outstanding musicianship all through grade school.
By the age of 16 years Theresa was already performing with local bands also gaining valuable experience in show business and recording. She earned a sterling reputation from musicians, recording artists and choirs as an accompanist in their live performances and recordings.

Theresa further honed her skills and developed a greater passion for music under the tutelage of internationally known instructors/musicians Chuck Nolan, Dr. Woody Witt and Dr. Rod Cannon of Sam Houston State University. It was at this university she earned a degree in music performance and jazz studies.
Theresa’s performances have been described as eclectic and cutting edge. Her unique sultry sound is inspired by great jazz legends Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Stan Getz and Grover Washington Jr. She performs more than jazz in her concerts also including other genres of music such as gospel, pop, Rhythm and Blues, Calypso, Latin and Classical.

Theresa’s warm and exciting stage presence was featured with an ensemble formed by jazz pianist Marcus Johnson for two consecutive years. She has been showcased on several Houston artist recordings and was honored with a special appearance with Houston based gospel band ‘Leviticus” during a CD debut that featured saxophonist Kirk Whalum. Theresa has performed on KHOU Great Day Houston, Channel 26 Fox Rocks Live, Music World’s House of Dereon, and Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Artist Showcase in 2008.
