The two sides of this sublime instrument represent the mundane and the metaphysical existence. The six holes on the beating heads stand for the six parts of the Veda and the hole in the middle of the stock is Bramharandra the minute pathway through which our soul is said to leave the mortal body to join the cosmic energy. The four tension rods denote the four Vedas the frills on these the time-honoured sixty –four arts.
